Both are bone-shaped to fit the curve of a baby's bottom and give more coverage.
The first type of insert has four layers of super-thirsty Bamboo Cotton. This is the insert that comes included with all Kidsaroo cloth nappies.
The second insert has three layers of Bamboo Cotton plus one layer of Hemp Cotton. The Hemp layer is the most absorbent but absorbs the slowest, so place that side facing towards the outside of the nappy. An excellent booster for nighttime.
Washing & Drying
Prep
Soak all new inserts in plain water for 12-24 hours, then give a regular wash without softener.
This helps to fluff up the fibres of the hidden layers and maximise absorption before use.
The inserts will shrink a little with the initial wash; we make them larger to account for that.
Rinse
Once soiled, remove it from the nappy and give a good rinse to get out or dilute the urine as much as possible.
If left in, urine tends to get stronger, and you could end up with an ammonia smell.
They can then be left for up to 48 hours until a regular wash is done.
Wash
Wash on a long or regular cycle with your usual detergent.
Please do not use softener (or oily detergents) as this coats the fibres and stops the absorbency.
Do not use bleach.
Drying
Line dry. The sun will help kill any bacteria that may remain.
Inserts are super absorbent, so they will take a while to dry.
